Status: Sold

Estimated Value: $4,500-5,000 Origin: Philadelphia, United States Denomination: 20 Dollars Gold Coin Year: 1924 Mint: Philadelphia Grade/Condition: Fine Metal: 90% gold and 10% copper Weight (+/- 0.2g): 33.4 grams Additional Description: Struck in 1924 at the Philadelphia Mint, this twenty-dollar gold piece features the celebrated Saint-Gaudens design, widely considered the finest in U.S. coinage. Commissioned by President Theodore Roosevelt and sculpted by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the obverse shows a boldly striding Liberty, while the reverse features a majestic eagle in flight. This example, believed to grade Fine, shows moderate wear with softened detail, particularly in Liberty’s figure and the eagle’s wings. Despite its circulated condition, it remains a significant artifact from a period of abundant gold coinage, just before the 1933 recall ended their use in commerce.
